The Long View I stared at the line of ant soldiers. One followed the other. A crumb twice it size Carried to a mound Somewhere in their memory. Diligent, obedient They moved increments To create their universe. Belief, fate, instinct Drew them on. Even as the wind blew them off course They righted themselves. I felt so small and huge, A giant above them. Unconcerned they continued on. And I stared transfixed Not knowing where to go. Out of step with the times The old becomes new
