For a want-to-be comedian
Those words send me off in reverie.
I remember sitting in the back seat of our Oldsmobile,
No seat belts, a pile of relatives back from a holiday meal.
I made a joke and the entire car burst into laughter.
A serious little cherub, no one expected my sense of humor.
My sister claims I’m funnier now than before.
My secret is out. I have always been funny but
Too philosophical, for anyone to notice.
My latest quip was so true, profound and funny.
Life is shorter than when it was longer.
I smile knowing the giggles, the reverie, the
Sense of accomplishment of the absurd reality. Timing.
