Giggles
Are the wiggles of laugher,
The silliness of time
Acted out in pantomime.
Pulling the skin wide along the neck.
Mommy, Mommy, I swallowed my toothbrush.
Or the hooking of a finger on the lip,
Lady, this isn’t an umbrella rack.
Jokes passed down through families
Repeated, goofiness that
Shreds our defenses
Peels of glee.
This is what is to be me.
You see my serious side,
The humor left to hide
When I swim and a tiny toot
Propels me forward.
I laugh underwater as the bubbles
Wiggle through my bathing suit
Released in water giggles.
I emerge as a landed mermaid
On solid ground.

We all have our silly side. What is yours? You can find me at http://www.abberolnick.com
