Security Blanket Worn threadbare A child holds on to the holes The deep snuggles Where tears arrive and fears settle in. It’s the blanket that Wraps the child in love Familiar like The bunny rabbit with its missing ear Dragged beyond into the other world. I seek security in two old stuffed monkeys That have traveled through a generation, In the leather of my brown chair where grandkids climb. In the photo of my Bubbie who answers all my questions When in doubt, I hunker down In the holes I’ve left open and remember Comfort.
