Bearings without GPS
Years ago,
I rode my bike everywhere.
I knew the backroads.
I avoided busy intersections.
Then I bought a car and got lost.
In my later years I’ve abandoned my car.
I walk everywhere.
I know the gardens and backroads
of my town.
I find narrow walkways and see views of the sound.
Without a GPS
I find my bearings even in the dark.
Lampposts light my way to the gym
East as the sun nods a hello.
I dine to the west, with the declining sun.
I press my folded hands against my forehead.
Breath in deeply.
I sit
Forever found.
