Harmonize
I close my eyes
Open my ears
Hear the sounds
Of the morning.
The rumbling rhythms of
Garbage trucks,
The swish of a sweeper,
The sweet high notes
Of a warbler, the ca-cha
grackle of the crow.
I’ve come to know
This song as my greeting.
I, in my high-rise,
No longer a country bumkin,
I wonder about distinctions.
What song do people sing?
Colors, culture, size, age,
We are no different.
Our voices, rhythm, tones
Across the universe
Harmonizes
To create life’s musicality.
