Spring into Life
They say love is in the air
When the blossoms fall like snow.
How am I to know?
They say the sun’s rise and set
Stretches longer and longer,
Warming bare arms,
Radiating out charm.
They say that the warm wind sings
The song of beginnings.
The notes honey laden
As if the bees anticipated,
The new nectar, the call
Of tender buds that flower before leaves.
They say magnolias and dogwoods
Open upside down and downside up.
They say each year is the same.
Naïve green, vanilla white,
Lemon yellow, coral, blue
As life springs anew.
