Inspiration comes in fits and spurts, laced with time, warmed with the heart. Each of my offerings began with a whisper, a pause to see, hear, and reflect.

Mail Box
Mail Box
The thrill of letters
Strung together
In words, sentences
Stories, messages
Sealed in an envelop
Stamped and sent
Anticipation
Walk to and from
Brown locked box
Checks and Bills
Mail’s misplaced thrill
Mourning the letter

Why?
Why?
Rain, water from the sky
Sun, rays of warmth
Wind, invisible power
Energy, giver of life
Why?

What I’m Not
What I’m Not
Nimble thumbed
Patient with an eye for narrow spaces
Not a sewer, knitter, or one that make lace,
Nor one to fix a retreating elastic for my waist.
My hands, eyes, and coordination fail
I seek what I’m Not.

Crazy Magnetism
Crazy Magnetism
As unusual as I think I am,
Some are drawn to my craziness
Magnetized attraction
To the “ers”
Walkers, Birders, Questioners
Reasons to Stray
Seeking “ahas”
Pulled with magnetic forces
Strayers become one

Cooks Delight
Cooks Delight
Where does
Imagination, travel
And intrigue meet?
Between the pages
Of a dog-eared book!
Read it or write it

As days go by
As days go by
Old becomes new again
Memory lane mixes
With new faces
What we were
Becomes what we are
We continue
As days go by

About Abbe
Abbe Rolnick grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland. Her first major cultural jolt occurred at age 15 when her family moved to Miami Beach, Florida. To find perspective, she climbed the only non-palm tree at her condo complex and wrote what she observed. History came alive with her exposure to Cuban culture. After attending Boston University, she lived in Puerto Rico, where she owned a bookstore. Once Stateside, she capitalized on the knowledge she gained as an independent bookstore owner and worked for one of the finest bookstores, Village Books, in Bellingham, Washington. Once a CEO of a manufacturing firm and owner of a healthy foods café, she is now retired and spends her time writing.
